ATTENTION! The images in this manual were taken from an iPhone. The app looks basically the same on Android and iOS. Only for the 'permission for location' is a separate explanation for Android.

First time in the Mobile app

When you open the app for the first time, you will see these screens. Thanks to this information, you will be briefly taken through the possibilities of the app. You can easily click or swipe through this.

Getting started with the Mobile app

Before you can get started with the Mobile app, it is of course necessary to log in with your MyRoute-app account or to create an account.

  1. This is the home page that is shown by default, whether you are logged in or not. More information about this page specifically can be found later in this manual.

  2. Clicking on the red-circled button on the home page, or swiping to the right, will take you to the main menu. Here are the buttons that will take you to the well-known MyRoute-app features. You can also access your account via this menu.

  3. To view your account in the app, you must of course log in first. It is also possible to log in with the SSO (Single Sign-On) option, for example, Apple or Google.

  4. Don't have an account yet? Fortunately, you can easily create a (free) account in the app. Here it is also possible to opt for the SSO option.

Home screen in the Mobile app

The home screen is what you always see when you open the app. Despite the calm look created by showing less visible buttons, a lot is possible from this page.

  1. Home screen: This is where it all starts. From this page, you can access the various options in the app.

  2. Main menu: Clicking this button will take you to the menu. From the menu, you can access your routes, tracks, and the important MyRoute app features.

  3. Cards: Would you rather see a different card in the app? Click on this button and you will return to the menu that can be seen under 7. Here you can choose which map layer you find most comfortable to use. This choice will remain visible from that moment on.

  4. Create Favorite: Are you in a place you would like to visit? Save it as a favorite by clicking this button. Under 8 you can see what this screen looks like. Give the point a nice name and then save it.

  5. Start tracklog: Perhaps one of the most important buttons on this screen. Click here to start tracking. A track is a kind of breadcrumb trail that you leave behind via the app so that you can later see which path you have taken during your journey.

  6. Position indicator: With this button, it is possible to indicate how the map behaves in relation to your location.

    1. If the arrow is empty, you will not be followed. The arrow is empty by default, which means that you are not followed on the map. ATTENTION! This has no impact on your track, just how you see the map.

    2. If you click on the arrow once, you will see that it is now “filled”. This means that your location will be tracked with north always up.

    3. If you click on the arrow again, you will end up in 'navigate mode'. The icon on the map will change from a dot to an arrow. The map orientation is up by default in this mode. This option will also automatically zoom in and out based on your speed.

  8. Position indicator: Works exactly the same as explained in chapter “Home screen in the Mobile app” under point 6.

  10. Save tracklog (screen): When you click on the button to save the track, you will see this pop-up. Give your tracklog a nice name and save it. Now, you can find the track in your account.

  11. Resume tracklog: Suppose something went wrong and the app closes. When you open the app again you will see this message and you can continue where you left off with tracking!

Location permission (iOS)

In order to use the app as optimally as possible, it is important to take a good look at the following notifications and what is best to select here.

  1. To be able to use the app to track and start routes from your own location, it is important that you choose to give permission for your location with this setting. We recommend that you choose 'When using the app' as the setting.

  2. Then when starting a track you will see the following message. For optimal operation of the app, it is recommended to choose the option 'change to always'. With this setting, it is possible to continue tracking while the phone/tablet is on standby.

  3. To be able to track it is also necessary to give permission for the movement and conditioning activity. This permission is not necessary for the track to work properly, but it is recommended that you allow it.

  4. You will see this notification if you choose in notification 2 that the app may only use your location 'When using the app'.

Location permission (Android)

In order to use the app as optimally as possible, it is important to take a good look at the following notifications and what is best to select here.

  1. This is the first notification you will receive. This announces that the app wants to use your location. In order to be able to use the app to track and start routes from your own location, it is important that you choose to give permission for your location with this setting.

  2. The second notification specifically asks for permission to let the app know your location when using the app.

  3. Then when starting a track you will see the following message. For optimal operation of the app, it is recommended to choose the option 'change to always'. With this setting, it is possible to continue tracking while the phone/tablet is on standby.

  4. The last notification you get when starting a track is whether you give permission to access your 'physical activity'. This permission is not necessary for the track to work properly, but it is recommended that you allow it.
