In this manual you can read how to export routes from the MRA Routeplanner to your BMW Navigator 6. The Connector is used for this export method. If you have not yet installed it on your computer, first read the Manual 'Installing the Connector' - Windows & MacOS.

ATTENTION! The used commands are translated from a Dutch device, they can be different in your own language.

Table of contents

In the Routeplanner

  1. Connect the Navigator and always use the supplied USB cable for this;
  2. Log in to the MyRoute-app website and open the desired route;
  3. Click on Export and then click on open route;
  4. Choose from one of the following three options:
    • Garmin (.GPX 1.1)
    • Garmin Zumo (.GPX 1.2)
    • BMW Motorbike (.GPX 1.2)
  5. After the file has been exported, a message will appear and you can click OK.

ATTENTION! On a Mac it can sometimes not work with the connector. In that case choose Save as and select the desired file type here. The route is now saved in the download folder on your computer. From here you can now drag the route to the .GPX folder on your Navigator.

The different file types

  • .GPX 1.1: You will see all waypoints, so both the shaping points (blue dots) and via points (flags);
  • .GPX 1.2 (+ motorbike): You will only see the via points (flags), because this is a route-track. The route must therefore contain via points.

On the Navigator

Import

  1. Restart your Navigator after you have exported the desired files;
  2. You will now receive a message that new routes have been found and the question whether you want to import them. Choose Yes!;
  3. Once the files have been imported, you will receive a message that they have been saved in the trip planner.
    • Depending on the type of .GPX, it can sometimes take a while for the file to be imported.

Start route

  1. Open the journey planner and select the route you want to drive;
  2. Go to tracks and see that there is also a route track of the imported route;
  3. Select the desired file and click on the key symbol in the top left corner;
  4. Check the option Show on maphere to view the track.
    • We also recommend that you always turn off the automatic recalculation. This prevents the navigation from making unwanted adjustments in the event of road closures, etc.

POIs

If you have also added POIs to the route, these will also be saved on the Navigator. You can find these under Where to - Saved.
